How COMPREX® works

We clean with air and water. Sounds simple? It is: physically, mechanically, without chemicals. The core of our services is the COMPREX® impulse flushing process, which we developed and which has proven itself in practice over many years. The secret of our unique technology is the addition of precisely controlled compressed air pulses to the affected system. Compressed air flows into the pipe at high speed, expands inside and develops directed forces to remove the deposits. We have investigated, tested and patented the precise combination of air and water pressure over many years.

Our procedure

A clean result in a few steps

1. Individual pre-planning

Every cleaning measure requires precise planning. In doing so, we always consider the local conditions and adapt our COMPREX® technology easily to the requirements of the plants and systems in your company. During pre-planning, the pipe sections to be cleaned are defined with inlets and discharge points and the cleaning procedure is planned stepwise.

2. Defining inlets and outlets

For cleaning any available inlets and outlets or connections on the system can be used. Depending on local conditions, we use the water in the pipeline itself or water from other lines of cleaning. After cleaning the main pipelines, the cleaning of equpiment such as heat exchangers or machines follows.

3. Injection of the Comprex® pulses

Controlled by special software, we introduce compressed air pulses and water into the section to be cleaned via the injection points. Depending on the local conditions, our large self-sufficient COMPREX® trailers or smaller compact COMPREX® units are used. The mobile units require only electricity and compressed air or inert gas from the customer’s plant.

4. Compress - expand

The compressed air injected into the pipeline or into the system expands inside and, together with the slowly inflowing water, generates impulse-like blocks of water and air. These cleaning effective packages flow through the cleaning section at speeds of up to 20 m/s.

5. Removal of deposits

The highly accelerated air and water blocks cause high turbulences with strong shear and drag forces on the inner surfaces of the pipes. In this way, biofilms and deposits can be mobilised and reliably removed. With COMPREX® industrial systems are gently cleaned as the admissible system pressure is never exceeded.

6. Turbidity monitoring

We document the flushing process precisely. The success of COMPREX® cleaning becomes visible by the heat transfer and the system characteristics. An inspection glass is used to monitor the turbidity, which makes the load of the discharged water with detached particles visible. If required, the discharge can be collected and evaluated with filter fleece in the decompression box.

Investing in innovation

We are pioneers in the further development of the impulse flushing: By investing in research & development, we are constantly redefining the performance spectrum of COMPREX®. Our participation as research or industrial partner in various joint projects, for example with the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), has already enabled us to develop two patents. Research projects give us the opportunity to continuously put innovative ideas into practice. In our own pilot plant in Landau, we’re doing regularly tests to optimize the effectiveness of our technology.
